The US Department Of Agriculture has found out that cows which have been fed hempseed cake do retain very low levels of THC And CBD in their meat. This study has also served to indicate that hemp-fed cattle is safe for human consumption.
The huge spike in hemp oil production has left farmers with a lot of by product and they wanted to find out whether it was possible to do something else with that. Some have decided to turn that into cakes and wanted to see how safe it was for livestock consumption.
The Study which has since been published in the Food Additives and Contaminants journal looked at the THC and CBD levels and cannabinoid percentage in the muscles, liver, fat tissues and the kidney.
It has been proven that hemp seed cake is highly nutritious and is a viable alternative feed source for cattle.
Hempseed Cake is undoubtedly a new market to explore from this by product of hemp-oil production, this is because it has been scientifically proven that it a source of crude protein and fiber.
It has also been found that feeding the cow hemp will also help reduce their stress. Up till now though, Hemp is not authorized by the Food and Drug Administration as a viable source for cattle feed.
The FDA has also undoubtedly frustrated stakeholders in the industry refusing to enact rules more broadly allowing CBD products for human consumption.
